The "Humble Heart' was written in 1822 by the Shakers. This was written by Wyeth and Hammond from a Massachusetts Shaker community. Shakers were a type of religious group.

Prohibition
In 1844-1849 Oregon set a law to stop the sale, distribution, etc.. This cartoon was released in Oregon in the late 1840s. Alcohol wasn't banned but had regulated laws. Prohibition has been a political problem even before state hood.

Dorthea Dix Asylum Reform
Dorthea Dix became a teacher at 14. She taught at a prison and was concerned about the treatment of the prisoners especially the ones with a mental illness. She started to work on changing to treat them better. She died in a hospital that she founded in New Jersey.
